Well hello, it’s volume 4 of Tidbits & Hotness. I try to keep the subject informative light and upbeat, but it’s difficult to find good stories. However, here’s what caught my eye this week.
First up, 3 links on the tough times that we face still today. In the words of the Academy Award Winning rap trio Three 6 Mafia, “It’s hard out here…”
25% of African Americans feel discriminated against.
Next, I often write on poor leadership and its effect on the team. Here is more evidence.
Finally, she may be gone but she is still working it out. Check out this article on Oprah, and pay attention to the last statement. She is ballsy.
Well, that closes out the week, we talked about Ann Curry in “Benchmarking” and then the glass ceiling in “The Roof is on Fire.” Thanks for reading and ask yourself, what’s the costofwork?

When Oprah announced that she was leaving her 25-year-old syndicated talk show she told the world that “It just felt like the time was right to leave.” However some reported that Oprah’s viewership had declined (Judge Judy drew more viewers in the last two years) and as such the networks had advised her that they were not going to renew her contracts. So in fact maybe it was the right time to leave.
Now she’s in a battle to “…commit my full energy, feet first, body immersed to the OWN mission.” She promotes that she thinks she can get O.J. Simpson to confess to her on OWN! “I have a dream of him confessing to me,” she said. Sensationalism creates viewers which generates advertising revenue. That’s the name of the game.
As sensational as Oprah is let’s hope she’s at her fighting weight. She’ll need to be just that in order to pull this next chapter of on-air success together! We’re all rooting for her. Hopefully her most challenging endeavor OWN doesn’t become just another bad dream!

I will always bet on Oprah to make the right choices. I do on occassion flip to OWN and there isn’t very much to choose from. She’ll figure it out. Thanks for commenting.
